EDIT: I’ve got a new version of this which moves the parts to the stand. See it here: https://youtu.be/8yNGf4s7KCI
It can be hard to tell if you’ve hit a target when shooting very long ranges with the .50 BMG, so I built this hit indicator. It’s simple and cheap. I attached it to the back of a 1/2″ AR500 plate with 3M VHB tape. The LED bar will be attached to a bar or something I can stick into the ground a few feet away.
DEI 504D shock sensor
Any 12v (automotive-type) LED light
Any 12v source (can be pretty small, I’m using RC helicopter batteries)
Some wire and connectors as desired for distance and connections
In some cases you will need a small 12v relay
The 504D can handle up to 200mA by itself without the relay. If you use an LED that consumes more than 200mA then you need the relay. Most LEDs will be below that. The light shown in the video is a trailer marker bar and it’s only 40mA.
